Valentin GilbertActualités

Further to the many conversations that have been taking place and the recent press coverage on EUDR, we can confirm the latest news from the EU Commission, proposing a 12 month delay to the implementation.

CPI Group is continuing to press ahead with its plans to ensure its compliant as soon as possible:

  • We are working with our suppliers to ascertain they will be ready and able to supply the data we require.
  • We are working with our publishers to help navigate their requirements and identify the data we will be supplying to ensure compliance
  • We are setting up our risk assessments across the CPI group for the paper and board we source
  • We are working on processes through our manufacturing sites to identify and map harvesting dates and geolocations of materials to the books that we deliver.
  • Our IT teams are working on data flow from the supplier through to publishers

It has also been confirmed by Intergraf this week:

  1. Non-EU companies will now be allowed access to the information system ‘Traces’ to input data. The UK exporter will need to register for an EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number and will be able to use the system to submit its Due Diligence Statement (DDS) and reference number for its exports into the EU.
  2. Dedicated training sessions will be provided for Non-EU users of ‘Traces’ although no dates are yet forthcoming for this.
  3. The information system will be opened on 2nd December, giving companies time to get used to it.

In reference to point number 1, we see it as good news that non EU operators can access the Traces system to input data, however we do need to understand who can do this.  If it is only the Exporter then this raises more questions but if other Actors can input the information then this maybe a better solution as it could allow us to supply and complete Due Diligence statements for the books we print and for paper we source, or is supplied through Mills where we have completed due diligence.

We will continue to update you on how we are going to be requesting data from our supply chain and how we will share this information with our publishers, at the same time updating on our progress towards compliance.

We will also be issuing a special edition of LEAF to cover our journey to EUDR compliance – however bumpy!
